April 28th Storm Update
The windstorm that hit Toronto on April 28th was one of the worst in recent memory. The 100Km/h gusts were especially gruesome on the waterfront for the dragonboats, motorboats and docks.
NDC staff are currently working with our insurers to repair or replace the majority of our boats and on-water equipment, the hope is to be back to normal operations and fully self sufficient within a month. In the mean-time a HUGE thank you goes out to Great White North Dragon Boat, who generously granted us the use of six BUK dragonboats to assist the club through this ordeal. National Dragonboat Club would also like to thank Pickering Dragon Boat Club and Mississauga Canoe Club for offering their facilities to help provide uninterrupted practice opportunities to NDC teams.
Most importantly we thank our teams for sticking with us through this tough time. Please accept our personal apologies for the chaos since the storm and our pledge to keep working as hard as possible to get you back on the water and training hard ASAP!
